Lead nutritionist Francesca Lyon recently did her annual Advanced Hormone Test to check in on her hormones. Since every hormone test at FUTURE WOMAN comes with a personalised health plan (prepared by one of our expert nutritionists), she now has a brand new supplement stack!
So what was she recommended?
Francesca’s Health Goals
Francesca is currently preparing to add to her family, so her main health goal was to optimise her fertility and egg health.
Glutathione
Glutathione is the body’s master antioxidant that helps protect your cells from oxidative stress. It also supports egg and follicle health and supports fertility too. Francesca had a slight preference for the 4-OH estrogen detox pathway which can create an increase in oxidative stress, therefore glutathione will help to combat that and also support overall energy too.
Key benefits: Egg health, fertility, energy, oxidative stress protection.
CoQ10 (Ubiquinol)
Francesca is currently taking a high-dose CoQ10 supplement to support mitochondrial health. This helps to ensure your cells (and eggs) have the energy they need to function optimally. It also supports energy and promotes egg quality to support fertility. The bonus is that supporting egg quality helps to delay perimenopause too!
Key benefits: Mitochondrial health, egg quality, energy.
Sulforaphane
Francesca takes sulforaphane to combat her preference for the 4-OH estrogen detox pathway. This is linked to oxidative stress and inflammation. Sulforaphane helps guide estrogen down healthier detox pathways (2-OH), reducing the 4-OH preference and supporting overall hormonal balance.
Key benefits: Estrogen detox, hormonal balance, cellular protection.
Zinc
Zinc is a multitasker when it comes to your health, including reproductive, immune and skin health. Francesca is currently taking it to help reduce her 5a-DHT pathway preference, which was slightly favoured in her Advanced Hormone Test. This helps to support clear skin and plays a crucial role in egg and follicle development. Zinc also supports progesterone production, which in turn supports mood and sleep.
Key benefits: Egg and follicle health, skin health, immune health and to support progesterone production.
Chaste Tree (Vitex)
Vitex is renowned for its ability to support progesterone levels and encourage a healthy luteal phase. Francesca wanted to increase her progesterone levels slightly based on her recent results; therefore is taking vitex for a period of 3 months before retesting again. This has a knock in effect to help reduce anxiety, support sleep quality and support overall mood too.
Key benefits: Progesterone support, luteal phase health, sleep, mood and fertility.
So which supplements should I be taking?
Before you order all of these supplements, remember these are personalised to Francesca’s individual hormone test results. Testing is the best way to learn exactly which of your hormones / detox pathways / nutrients need support.
