Frequently Asked Questions
Follow-Up bHRT Consultation
Ongoing Support for Your Hormone Health Journey
Hormone therapy is not a one-size-fits-all treatment. As your body adapts to bHRT, your symptoms, hormone requirements and treatment goals may evolve over time. Our Follow-Up bHRT Consultation is designed to review your progress, fine-tune your treatment plan, and ensure you continue moving towards feeling your best.
Whether you have recently started treatment, need adjustments to your prescription, or want support with ongoing symptoms, our specialist team will help you optimise your plan based on your individual response.
What’s Included in Your Follow-Up Consultation?
Symptom & Progress Review
We’ll assess how your symptoms have changed since starting treatment, including improvements, new symptoms, or any side effects.
Treatment Optimisation
Your doctor will review your current bHRT plan and make any necessary adjustments to doses, formats, or combinations to better support your needs.
Review of Test Results
If you have completed hormone testing, blood work, or scans since your last appointment, we’ll interpret your results and explain how they impact your treatment plan.
Lifestyle & Nutrition Guidance
We’ll discuss any lifestyle factors that may be affecting your progress, including sleep, stress, diet, exercise and metabolic health.
Prescription Management
Where appropriate, your prescription will be renewed or updated through our trusted compounding pharmacy partner.
Why Follow-Ups Matter
Hormones fluctuate over time, particularly during perimenopause and menopause. Finding the right balance often requires adjustments based on how your body responds to treatment.
Unlike standard HRT services that may offer minimal monitoring after prescribing, our approach focuses on ongoing personalised care. We aim to help you achieve meaningful symptom improvement while ensuring your treatment remains appropriate, effective and aligned with your health goals.
Our clinicians also consider factors that may influence how well you respond to treatment, including stress, cortisol patterns, inflammation, insulin resistance and hormone metabolism.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I have a follow-up consultation?
Most women are reviewed around 8-12 weeks after starting or changing treatment, as this allows enough time to assess how the body is responding. After this, ongoing follow-ups are typically recommended every 6 months, depending on your treatment plan and symptoms.
Can my prescription be changed during a follow-up?
Yes. Your clinician may adjust your hormone doses, delivery method, or treatment combination depending on your symptoms, test results and overall response to treatment.
Do I need hormone testing before a follow-up?
Not always. Some women may benefit from additional hormone testing or blood work, while others may only require a symptom review and treatment adjustment. Your clinician will advise what is appropriate for your situation.
What if I’m still not feeling better on HRT?
This is more common than many women realise. Persistent symptoms can sometimes reflect issues beyond hormone levels alone, including stress, poor sleep, inflammation, gut health, blood sugar imbalance, or difficulties metabolising hormones effectively. Our approach looks beyond standard prescribing to help identify other contributing factors.
Can I book a follow-up if I started HRT elsewhere?
At the moment, follow-up consultations are designed for existing FUTURE WOMAN bHRT patients who have already completed an initial consultation with our team. If you are new to FUTURE WOMAN, we recommend booking an Initial bHRT Consultation first.
Will I receive a new prescription after my appointment?
If appropriate, your prescription can be renewed or adjusted following your consultation. Prescriptions are fulfilled through Specialist Pharmacy, our trusted compounding pharmacy partner.
